Why doesn’t my mountain ash get berries?

I have a mountain ash that gets loads of flowers. When the flowers die off, instead of turning to a berry they dry up and fall off. We have plenty of bees and hummingbirds the go to it. Does anyone know what is happening?

  1. I think there are male and female mountain ash trees. One gets berries and the other doesn’t.

Personally, I’d want the one sans berries as they are a mess to clean up.

    Nature is cool.
