In phases. Right before puberty is a good time to start, usually by about 6th Grade (11, 12, 13 yo), dont get in too heavy, but it would be helpful to tell your kids about puberty and hair and .. you know just so they dont feel like freaks. Tell them their body will start to mature, and they will experience things that are different and might make them feel uncomfortable. Tell them everyone goes through it. Then you should keep open conversation with them so they feel comfortable talking to you about private things. Dont start laying down the law about sex and what not, most teens and young people will do what they want to do depsite what anyone tells them. Your best bet is to guide them so they have good judgement. Trying to control them will most likely backfire IMO. You’ll eventually lead up to sex and the act of it as your conversation with your child matures and they mature. Think about how you grew up and discovering your puberty and sex.. thats usually a good place to start. If youre not the same sex as your child, get your partner to explain to them (this is usually the best way) No girl wants their dad talking to them about tampons, and no boy wants their mom talking to them about wet dreams.. lol
