I work in a domestic call center. I receive technical phone calls about business phone systems, the kinds that run hospitals or cities.
This career started the US Navy in 1977. I worked in electronics for the Navy. After I got out I moved into manufacturing (chips, hard drives, laptops) then to field work, repairing electronics in businesses. Finally I took a job answering calls and I have been there for ten years.
I provide onsite software support for one of the big software vendors. If a company pays for a support contract and their systems have a major problem, I get a call (sometimes in the middle of the night) and go to their office to help fix it. I got this job because in my last job, we had a major problem and we had to call support to come out. I was complaining about how my boss was making me nuts and the tech who was fixing our servers said, “well, you can come work for us!” And so I did!
importer/wholesaler distribuitor agent for computer parts and related.
I got here after:
1. i was unemployed and was getting mad about it
2. my best friend and my brother bought laptops at incredible high prices
I made some research on how the import channels worked and here i am… I live in Honduras (central america), so now i import and resell.
Not making as much $$ as i’d love to, but i am better off this way
I work with search and rescue dogs sniffing out lost and dead people, and also with the local coroner’s office finding and sometimes moving dead people. I’ve always been fascinated with forensics and investigation… but trained and worked as a cake decorator & baker first. Life is strange.
BTW…I’m not particularly fond of dead people, but some people are really disturbed by them and I’m not.
I make windshields for GM, so needless to say, I’m job-hunting.
