Is there anyone out there who has either gone to the National Spelling Bee as a participant? Or are their parents who have had children in the National Bee? My daughter went in 1998. How did you do and what were your experiences?

I was in the Spelling Bee when I was in eighth grade three years ago. I went to represent my district at the borough spelling bee. The principal of my school was the word pronouncer. When it was my turn in the fifth round, she pronounced a word wrong and i spelled it the right way it was pronounced but it was wrong for the right word. I lost unfairly. That sucks, doesn’t it?

I was in a spelling be when in the 7th grade. I did terribly bad but no one really cared! It seemed to me that it was just an event to help get children excited about school….some are good at football and some are good at English and spelling. I was nervous and wouldn’t want to do it again….I’m not a great speller…

I went to the spelling bee once but I got stung and as I was allergic I blew up like a balloon, actually more like a hydrogen bomb and destroyed a large area so I don’t go anymore.
