Getting rid of a bee’s nest?

The other day I came home to find the tree that had blown down during the winter covered with bee’s!! As I went closer to it I noticed that the bee’s had made a hive and there were a TON of them!! I have no idea what to do? Is there any way I can get rid of them by myself? Or is Clark the only answer? I am pretty sure they are not wasps as I notice that wasps have a big butt and kind of long and Im sure these are just bee’s.

  1. If you are in the south, call a removal specialist pronto, they could be African bees.

  2. There should be a bee removal service in your area. Check the phone book. Also, be careful! They may be Africanized; this makes the bees quick to temper and waaay more aggressive.

  3. Call an exterminator. It really is the only option and really aren’t all that expensive for bee removal. Call around to get the best price before committing to one.

  4. You will want to take the nest out at night. Wear less then colorful clothing and layer your clothing long sleeves and pants. you can try to surround the nest with a bag so the bees don’t escape out and just gently cut the branch the nest is attached to.

This is what you do. You soak a rag in gasoline and put it on a post near the bees nest. Wait untill nightfall light the rag on fire and throw a rock at the bees nest. The bees will think the fire is attacking them and will fly into the fire. simple.

  6. put a bunch of charcoal in a metal oil drain pan with lighter fluid. slide it under the area with the hive and run, the smoke will drive off the bees and then you can dispose of the hive and tree.actually burning that part of the tree would no be a bad idea unless its really big.

  7. The only way I could get rid of them was to hire a professional to smoke them out. I’m glad I did because they were aggressive and attacked me and my dogs. The hive must also be removed. They come literally suited up completely covered because they get really aggressive while they are being smoked out. It cost $130, they will also come out for the next 90 days if they return or attempt to re-establish. It was worth it!

If they are small brown looking bees they could be honey bees. Call a beekeeper, in the yellow pages. they will be more than welcome to collect them. If not Little brown ones in the evening sprinkle SEVIN dust around the opening and they will be dead by morning. hardware stores sells it for about $10.00 a small bag.
