  4. Can’t wait for your e-mails with the videos!! It’s easier to understand with a hands on video than reading it in a book. Thanks!!

David you amaze me with your calm bees I have never seen anything like this.
I had 5 hives in Cape Town and those African bees were very defensive of the hive and would sting right through coveralls anytime you went anywhere near the hive let alone start taking frames out.

Yes, my bees seem to know me and treat me well. They are bees and sometimes in raising queens I have to work hives briefly in the rain and that’s when they let me know they don’t like rain :)

Thanks! I’m working on a video to give a brief overview of queen rearing. Hope you like that one too!

It is an important trait/characteristic that we breed for. It’s a must. We sell queens and no one wants “hot” agressive honey bees.

Our classes we offer at our honey bee farm are just that…hands on. Read all the books you can on flying a plane and then try to fly with book knowledge. It’s not going to happen! That’s why hands on, or videos are so important in the learning stage.

Typically it’s not warm enough to work bees in Illinois until April 15! We can’t wait.

I want to raise bumble bees, since their population is depleting, but I have no idea how to do this…I’m 15, and ordering them from somewhere is out of the qeustion,
and I’d hate to take them from their home, plus, I wouldnt be able to get a queen from the wild anyway…help? :(
