We were expecting the swarm because when we went to split the hive, we couldn’t find the queen. So this one settled about 10′ off the ground and we were able to catch it and put it in a modified Langstroff hive. It was just Billy and me, so I was too busy to film the actual collection with the two of us balanced on ladders and shaking the bugs into a bucket. We got two loads and poured them into the hive. Apparently we got the queen because the bees settled right down and went to work cleaning up the comb we gave the.
