I plan to start beekeeping next spring. Now might be good to… Spring has just gotten going in my area. I kinda know what to do but need some help so any or all info on hows are excepted. I can go online for a lot of help but having problems with info on my area.
I live in Black Forest, Colorado. warm weather goes from mid may, early june to mid september. summer is about 70-80 most days but can get to 90-100 easy. there’s not a lot of rain but enough to keep things alive. Winter though, Cold cold cold. Usually around 30 F but often around 10F. When it snows it snows a lot. a few weeks ago we got 3 ft snow. it melted in a few days though. weather changes rapidly so what i said isn’t always true. I live in a forest too. The only trees are ponderosa pines but are spaced a lot in most places. I have i think 3 1/2 acres and everyone lives at the opposite side of there property from my house. everyone around here has at least a small garden. Its also almost always a bit windy.
So where would be a good place to put the hive? How do I start it? keep it from moving to a new home? What kind of bee? where could I get the stuff for it? Colorado springs is near me so commercial places are there. online is harder to do but I can. any other help?
Thank you so much for helping!
How much will all this cost? also, I dont plan on getting honey from them. I just want them around
In town you can have like one hive but I don’t live in town. There are no rules about it here. Thanks for telling me that though!
