It is a legal requirement to have each hive checked for American Foulbrood regularly. This video shows you how to check your ‘wet brood’ in a TopBar Hive.

This new (empty) top bar hive had a swarm installed in it on Saturday, 9 April 2011. The swarm colony swarmed again from this hive on 2 May 2011, was captured, and installed in a nearby new Langstroth hive. What you see here are the bees that remained in this hive (with numerous queen cells and 16 bars of comb filled with brood, honey and pollen) after it swarmed. As you can see, it remains a strong colony.
