Can Bees get honey from honeysuckels and do they stay near them much?
I have bees in my backyard. How can I get rid of them?
I wanted to plant a trap with some syrup or honey in a bag and then close the bag trapping them and then beat the bag with my shoe and take them out of commish. But then I got scared cause I saw their were more than two. I am thinkin their could be a hive maybe. Couple of weeks ago I tore out a tree shrub cause they were always hangin out their but now they are still hanging out by another small tree. Their is a particular black one that just hovers around right in front of my backyard and it makes me so mad cause he’s always their.
But anyway, what Can I do?? How can I get rid of them??
Later this summer, I’ll be doing a big landscaping project in my backyard and replacing grass/trees with concrete and/or brick.
My how to Backyard Beekeeping, First Friday AM activity
This is the beginning of my how to backyard beekeeping adventure. It’s been six days and not much Honey Bee activity. Today real first day with Sun. Everyone should start backyard beekeeping. Recorded on April 1, 2011 using a Flip Video camera.
Bees are not only essential to the environment (60% of food plants depend on honey bees for pollination) but these highly sophisticated insects are also a real pleasure to keep. And the great thing is you don’t need a great deal of space to keep bees. This one day course is a complete introduction giving you a taster of what is involved and helping you to understand the whole beekeeping process, before you fully commit to keeping bees yourself. The course will be led by David Wiscombe, a local beekeeping expert who has over been keeping bees for over 50 years. David has been mentoring Cat Bugler, our resident trainee beekeeper, here at Park Farm for the last few years. The day will be divided in to four parts. Part one will begin in the farmhouse where David will go through the fundamental facts around beekeeping, from recognising the honey bee, through to equipment needed and why we should keep bees. The next two sessions are practical sessions, out at the River Cottage Apiary. This will give you a chance to examine a bee hive and learn about the safety and beekeeping etiquette. The final session will be back in the barn, where David will show you the numerous products you can make out of a hive (floor wax, facial cream etc) and how to get started on the road to bee keeping, with lots of useful advice and tips. Included in the price of your ticket is a delicious seasonal lunch prepared by the River Cottage kitchen team, plus there will be a set of notes which you can …

RicsBees BackYard Beekeeping Bottom Tray Hive2 wk3
My backyard beekeeping follow up. Here’s the bottom tray after the 3rd week. Still a pollen flow and me see beetles, (shb). Please comment if there are things I need to worry about. BTW, that is wet Lime. Too much rain in northern Alabama thinking about going with an oil tray.
